In the studio for Larkin 25

We've been busy in the studio, recording a track that sets Philip Lakin's poem 'Far Out' to music. It will be on the All Night North CD, released this June as part of the Larkin 25 cellebrations. We don't like to blow our own band camp trumpets, but it sounds ace!!! Can't wait for you to hear it. Lu, Em & Sally xXx

Singing by the seaside

AWA have retreated to sing by the seaside. Things will be a little quiet on the live gig front for a few months. Don't worry though, there's some mischief to be had in 2010.

Discography

ALL NIGHT NORTH

AWA have contributed an exclusive track 'Far Out' to the All Night North cd. More info here.
'...refreshing...strange and otherworldly...Far Out by three young ladies who appear to have overdosed on an almost lethal cocktail of Bjork, The Unthanks and Philip Larkin's Collected Poems. If it wasn't so intriguingly entertaining, I suppose I could simply sit and listen to the distant sound of Mr Larkin, spinning wildly in his grave.'

CHANNEL 16

'Channel 16' is Awash With AntleR's debut 4 track EP. Recorded at Fairview Studios & Lu Lu's shack, it has a rather spiffing cd cover designed by our very own in-house graphics extraordinaire, Emma.
Reviews of the 1st track, Bison -
"... a musical space that definitely sounds very much their own...an almost orchestral canvas over which their edgy and sometimes shy vocals, pour strange melodies and descriptive, dramatic dialogues...hugely original." Manchester Music Online
"In short: haunting, lush and magnificent." Mikey Reynolds, Sandman Magazine

'Piano twinklings beckon ye in, but don't ever expect the circular hypnotic strings and thump to let you escape – soon the Bison will be living in you too and dreams of "roaming the plain" with inevitably end with you "licking people's faces". In short: haunting, lush and magnificent – Bisons have never sounded this appealing.' Sandman Magazine
