Awash with AntleR are getting a bit curious about what their manager Bronson has been doing whilst he has been on holiday....

Bronson went on holiday after he was handled rather vigorously during an early AWA gig and decided he needed a bit of a break from the harsh realities of t...he music industry. Well, now he is back with a vengeance!

If you don't know who Bronson is, he is a Boy-Chicken.

Bronson will be joining us at our next gig on 31st July, which is at the New Adelphi Club in Hull... Be sure not to miss this momentous event!

The ensuing review of the larkin25 - 'all night north' performances:

It's always with held breath and white knuckles, however, that one approaches a tribute to Larkin. It's well-documented, by now, that Philip wasn't exactly a cheery poet, nor was he the kind of community-spirited poet that this country seems to insist on producing these days. Larkin is the figurehead for all misanthropic poets who was happier to report on what he saw from his window, be it that of his flat or the carriage of a train, than actually mingle with the people that populated his work. A roomful of poetry and music lovers in an East Yorkshire leisure centre would, perhaps, have terrified Larkin, especially as a handful of them attempt to put some of his poems to music. Strangely, however, some of the songs seem to work well and have been compiled on a CD that is available to listen to in full at www.allnightnorth.com. A duo going by the name of Man Made Noise turn Larkin's Mr Bleaney into a dreamy, Pink Floyd-esque song that manages to capture the dusty, post-war England that Larkin described so well. Kristian Eastwood's rendition of At Grass is also a refreshing reading of Larkin's work, as is Edwina Hayes's This Be The Verse, but, perhaps, neither are as refreshing, nor as strange and otherworldly as Far Out by the band Awash with Antler – three young ladies who appear to have overdosed on an almost lethal cocktail of Bjork, The Unthanks and Philip Larkin's Collected Poems. If it wasn't so intriguingly entertaining, I suppose I could simply sit and listen to the distant sound of Mr Larkin, spinning wildly in his grave.

When you want to make a song a bit Longer....

Hello! This is Salbo AntleR and most of my songs are quite short. I am in the process of 'making one a bit longer' and I just wanted to point out that merely adding a few words to a song can really change the meaning of a song.

In this case its from a slightly yucky love song into a bit of a delusional rant from someone with a restraining order!

Stomp box surgery

Those who witnessed the absolute OBLITERATION of our poor stomp box the other weekend may be pleased to hear the following. The surgery went to plan, & the box is in slow, but steady recovery... touch wood. Many thanks for all your kind messages, chocolates & flowers. It has been emotional.

Cottingham Springboard Festival 2010 - two for free

Awash With AntleR play thier first gigs since last summer! So what have we been up to? Well, we firstly had a well deserved break. Emma bashed some saucy samba drums. Sally joined the Rocky Nest's ever mutating orchestra. Lu ate muffins, did some surfing in Cornwall & tinkered with Hurricane Lulu. Then AWA band camp rehearsals commenced again in November. In January we went into the recording studio for a track that is on the 'All Night North' cd - out on June 10th.

We are very pleased to be part of this year's Larkin 25 celebrations. There will be much more information soon, along with other projects we have planned. But for now, do please come & join in with fun & frolicks at this year's Cottingham Springboard Festival. It's a bit like a musical pub crawl over the lovely village of Cottingham. Shandygaff, sunshine & free music. What could be a better way to spend the bank holiday?

We've been busy in the studio, recording a track that sets Philip Lakin's poem 'Far Out' to music. It will be on the All Night North CD, released this June as part of the Larkin 25 cellebrations. Yorkshire sounds showcase @ SXSW 2010, Texas

Awash With AntleR have been recommended by BBC Raw Talent's Alan Raw to appear on a compilation cd especially for this years SXSW 2009 conference in Texas. The cd, setup by The Timeless Music Project, will showcase bands & musicians from across Yorkshire, including Wild Beasts, Paul Marshall & Sky Larkin.

We're having a super springtime party on the 13th at our beloved Adelphi Club. Our debut EP 'Channel 16' will be available to buy on cd. Also playing are the brilliant 'The Romantic Cats' & The Bee's Niece, who we loved seeing so much at a recent Manchester gig, we invited them over to glamorous Hull. We'd love to see you down there. The night, called ' Fucked Up Thursday', also features The Scrotes & The Bee's Niece and is set to be a good one. Tickets are £4 on the door.
